Isaiah 58 is all about the fast that God has chosen for us, His people. Verse 6 tells us the goal of the fast:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
We are praying for the Lord to put at least 5 people in our lives with whom we can share the good news of Jesus' love and His gift of salvation. So that they can be released from the heavy burden of sin and be set free and made whole. Whoo hoo!
This past weekend, Pastor Jeff shared with us a simple way to share Jesus with people when the Lord sends them to us. There are 5 basic questions we can ask that are non-threatening and open the door for discussion. They are from "Sharing Jesus Without Fear" (www.sharejesuswithoutfear.com).
5 Qualifying Questions:
1. Do you have any type of spiritual belief?
2. To you, who is Jesus?
3. Do you believe in a heaven or a hell? OR//If you died today, where would you end up?
4. If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
5. Can I show you what I have learned?
We trust that the Lord is going to open our hearts and eyes to the way He loves and sees people
Are you ready?
Be sure to post your testimonies, challenges and questions and let's keep each other encouraged!
One of our people who is a leader of a small group sent me an e-mail "Pastor Jeff, FYI. Only 1 of the 7 people at my (group) this week were "convinced" that the Biblical account of Heaven and Hell is accurate, though they are all Christians."
ReplyDeleteThis fast will help us 'believe' in the reality of heaven and hell! I look forward to it - Pastor Jeff
While praying during my fast, I was asking God about my daughters situation. I clearly heard God say to me, "Today is the day it breaks". I was very excited to hear those words! Then the Lord said to me,Call your daughter and tell her." Well, I did not want to do that as I did not want her to be disappointed, so I said to the Lord that I can believe you for her. Then the Lord said it again 2 more times and I said, "Ok, I will." When I called her I got her voicemail so I left her very encouraging message and told her what the Lord had said. Later that morning she called me back and left a message saying, "I have no idea how much that message meant to her and she thanked me. I was very glad to have been obedient to what God had said to me. But then that afternoon she text me to say, she had just got a call for a job interview for exactly what she was waiting for. Today she has interviewed for 2 jobs and will have to decide which job she will take!
ReplyDeleteWhat an answer to prayer. Thank you God for your faithfulness and for building not only my daughters faith but mine as well.
This came as an anonymous testimony. Yeah God!
ReplyDelete"I had to leave church early on Sunday because I was meeting a non Christian friend for coffee. I had told her that I wanted to hear about her spiritual journey (and this was previous to hearing the sermon!). After she shared with me her Scientology beliefs, I sensed that I wasn’t supposed to go further with the steps you outlined. Afterward, that was confirmed when she told me she was very grateful that I had just listened. She knows that I am a Christian and I think she expected to be lambasted. Now I am going to pray that the Lord shows her the inadequacy of her beliefs and we have an opportunity to continue the conversation. "

ReplyDeleteSeveral days ago I heard that a lady that I know was quite ill – even to the point of death. My initial thought was “is she saved?” I asked around the few friends that were there and no one knew.
Val and I went to the hospital, saw the family and spoke a few awkward words of comfort. No one knew if she had ever accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. I asked for permission to speak to her – knowing that even in that seeming unconscious state a person can hear and understand. I let her know who I was and who was there in the room, husband, daughter, son and Val. With Val praying silently, I told her that we wanted her to know God’s plan of salvation and that even now she could pray, ask Jesus to forgive her sins and come into her heart and save her for all eternity.
Her facial expression changed and her lips quivered even though she could not make a sound. I believe that that was the moment of her salvation. Only God knows, I hope to see her in heaven.
Please understand why I tell this story. I am so ashamed of myself. How many others that I know who I never have asked: Are you saved? Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Oh God forgive me, how many souls have slipped into eternity not being confronted with the Truth – there is but one way to heaven. I pray that you and I will understand every day that we may be the only witness that friend or loved one will ever hear. Tell the Story with boldness.
By the way, the daughter who was there prayed to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior that evening. Ain’t God good!
