The Apostle Paul said that he preached the gospel because the love of God "compelled" him. "Compelled" means to be moved with powerful irresistible force. It was not out of obligation, duty or guilt but because God's love had changed his heart toward the lost to the point of moving him with the irresistible power to share the Gospel message; truly love in action.
First Corinthians 13 tells us that without love our actions are without meaning. I have been praying for His love for the lost to be such that it compels me to act/speak. How about you?
Pastor Jeff gave us the next part of "Sharing Jesus Without Fear" in last week's message. Once you've shared what you've learned about Jesus using your marked bible with the seven scriptures, there are five questions that you can use to follow up:
- Are you a sinner?
- Do you need forgiveness?
- Do you believe Jesus died on a cross and rose again on the third day?
- Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus?
- Are you ready to invite Jesus into your life and heart?
And it's just that easy! Remember, it's not your job to make them accept Jesus - just to share Him.
Ok - my goal is to lead someone to Christ every week for the rest of the year. Last week, I was at Fairmont, and I was able to talk to one of the male servers about Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI asked him (John) Do you have any type of spiritual belief? He said "Nope"
I asked him: To you, who is Jesus? He said, "I'm not really sure ... a spiritual person"
I asked him: Do you believe in a heaven or a hell? He responded, "NOPE!"
So, I asked him (noticing that he is now starting to show signs of nervousness): If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it? He said emphatically, "Yes, I would"
So ... I asked for permission to share the 7 Scriptures. He went through all of them and got them all right (when I asked him to read them out loud and what does that mean to you?) I had to help him with John 3:3 (born again and Kingdom of God) and 2 Cor. 5:15 ... But HE READ THEM AND GOT WHAT THEY MEAN RIGHT!!!
So I asked him: Are you a sinner? He responded, "Yes I am"
So I asked him: Do you need forgiveness for your sins? He responded, "I'm not sure..."
SO ... I left him with, "as you read, we are ALL in need of forgiveness"
I know that God will work in his heart! I was able to plant a seed... (or water one) and someone else will harvest.
But THIS IS FUN!!!!
When I looked around and see what is going on in the world, I can't help but be reminded of what Jesus said:
ReplyDeleteAnd when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28)
He was talking about signs of the end of the age. Things we should be watching for that would indicate his return. Of course, people have talked about this for centuries but this time there seems to be a difference. For lack of a better word, there seems to be convergence. Everything is coming together. The scripture tells us we can not know the exact day or hour but we can know when he is returning. Indeed, it appears to be a 'lift up your head' time.
Jesus also talked about the need for workers. In the book of John, he said:
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. (John 4:35)
This time, he talked about "lifting up your eyes". Probably a real good thing to do, if you are walking in a field and are trying to find people.
How much "I'll do it some other day" time do you have left? Peer into your hearts heart and take a deep look. For those who have never experience a personal relationship with Christ, it's time. He's waiting for you. For those of you that claim Jesus Christ, evaluate your position with the God of the universe. How many feet do you have in that world that will be passing away ? (2 Cor 13:5)
Since it is a "lift of your head" time let us have a "lift up your eyes" focus.
